Once again this year, Rexx Systems is foregoing customer gifts and is instead supporting the honourable work of five institutions with a Christmas donation of €2,000 each. These include the SOS-Kinderdörfer, the midnight bus for the homeless run by Diakonie Hamburg, Plan International, NABU and the Evangelische Stiftung Alsterdorf.
SOS-Kinderdörfer and NABU for a better present and future
In the third winter of war, the challenges for children in Ukraine are becoming ever greater. The extent of the destruction and the humanitarian consequences continue to be staggering. Many of the 3.7 million internally displaced persons have been accommodated in emergency camps that are not designed for the harsh winter conditions in Ukraine. Immediate support and long-term aid are urgently needed. We donate to the SOS-Kinderdörfer, so that refuge and psychosocial help can continue to be provided.
Over ten million tonnes of plastic waste are dumped into the world’s oceans every year. To counteract the increasing pollution on our own doorstep, NABU launched the „Oceans without plastic“ project in 2010. Under the motto ‘Clean up, educate and prevent’, the organisation fights to raise awareness of the impact of pollution on nature and animals. Numerous clean-up campaigns and efforts to improve waste management in harbours have already made a significant contribution to preventing marine litter.
Keeping an eye on local events: Donation for the Hamburg midnight bus
Rexx Systems not only keeps an eye on global but also local events. The company has been supporting the Diakonie Hamburg midnight bus for several years now. This bus offers people living on the streets essential help such as sandwiches and hot drinks. Every night, it also offers conversation, blankets and warm clothing. Especially in the cold season, this is an important ray of hope and helps to ensure that nobody has to freeze to death on Hamburg’s streets. Thanks to the efforts of numerous volunteers, this service can be offered all year round.
The Evangelische Stiftung Alsterdorf is committed to an inclusive society. It offers many programmes for people with physical, mental or psychological impairments and shows how inclusion can succeed. The aim is to support people so that they are able to lead a largely self-determined and independent life. The foundation’s work covers a broad spectrum: this includes medical and therapeutic care in hospitals, educational programmes in daycare centres and schools as well as support and care for older people.
Plan International helps children in crisis areas
The challenges of hunger, disease, natural disasters and conflicts that threaten the lives and future of many people are increasing worldwide. In these difficult times, it is often the children who are overlooked in the general plight and suffer the most. Plan International has set itself the task of giving children in crisis areas a perspective and offering quick and efficient help.
